ציל

צִיל(v. צְלַל) to be clear. Part. צָיֵיל, צִיל, צָאֵיל. Sabb.66b כי היכי דציל הא מישחא לֵיצִילוכ׳ as this oil is clear, so may the wine ofbe clear (that our minds may not be affected by the wine); ib. כי היכי דצִילָא האי שיעתא ליצילוכ׳ Ms. M. (ed. דליציל האי שיעא read: דציל; Ms. O. דצאיל) as this sealing clay is bright, so may the wine Ib. 75a, v. צֶבַע ch. Erub.64a לא צילא דעתאי Ms. M. (ed. צִילָאִי; Yalk. Noah Ms. צָאִילְנָא; v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 70) my mind is not clear (I am not clear in my mind). Pes.110b הוה ציילוכ׳ he remained clear in his mind, and was on his guard. Sabb.23a ציל נהוריה טפי Ms. M. (ed. צליל) its light is brighter. Ḥull.55b דצִילֵי when the fluid in the ulcers is clear, opp. עכירי. Ithpe. אִתְצִיל to become clear (in mind), be rational. Gitt.70b לכי מִתְצִיל לאוכ׳ when he is rational again, he need not retract what he said when delirious.
